Jean Ran
About
Jean Ran is a dedicated choral conductor, pianist, and voice educator who immigrated from China and discovered his passion for music through mentors who helped shape his artistic development. He brings a deep commitment to nurturing artistic growth in students of all backgrounds and ages. With experience directing choirs and conducting ensembles from elementary through collegiate levels at the University of Oregon, Jean combines artistic excellence with practical pedagogy. He participated in Michelle Obama's Turnaround Arts initiative, helping to guide underfunded students to recognition at prestigious venues like the Reno Jazz Festival. Jean believes that music can transform lives and empower aspiring artists to pursue their passions. His teaching philosophy bridges the gap between artistic excellence and empowerment of students from all backgrounds. He teaches voice, piano, violin, and cello, and is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from the University of Oregon. Jean is known for his patient, encouraging approach and his ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
