Jean Goodheart
About
Jean Goodheart is a Lecturer in Lyric Diction and Community Engagement Coordinator at Binghamton University's Department of Music. She is a soprano with extensive performance experience in leading operatic roles including performances in Romeo & Juliette, La Bohรจme, and Carmen, with a successful career spanning North America and South America. Goodheart previously taught on the voice faculty at Purchase College Conservatory of Music from 1999 to 2009 and served as Education Director for the New York Festival of Song. She has worked as a teaching artist with Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center Institute, bringing professional expertise to music education. Her research interests center on community arts partnerships, social prescribing of the arts, and using the arts for health and wellness. She earned her BM and MM degrees from the Manhattan School of Music and has received recognition including a 2022 Community Engaged Teaching Fellowship. Beyond her university teaching, Goodheart previously created curricula at Seton Catholic Central High School from 2015-2018. Her expertise in lyric diction and vocal technique makes her an invaluable resource for singers seeking to master proper vocal production and linguistic clarity in multiple languages.
