JD Thomas is a music instructor based in Richmond, VA who relocated from Nashville, Tennessee in April 2018. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Performance with Voice Emphasis from Cumberland University (graduated Magna Cum Laude), JD brings extensive performance and teaching experience to his instruction. He founded Open Hearts Music (OHMRVA), a music education business committed to providing inclusive singing lessons to students of all abilities, including those with disabilities, creating a welcoming and supportive environment that celebrates diversity. JD has trained in multiple musical styles including opera, Broadway, gospel, and popular music, with extensive background performing in choirs and ensembles. His teaching philosophy emphasizes building confidence and musical literacy while developing healthy vocal technique. JD offers private lessons in voice, piano, and guitar in client homes, his home studio, or online, serving the greater Richmond area with flexibility and personalized attention.
