Janna Kysilko
About
Janna Kysilko is a lyric coloratura soprano and voice instructor based in Saint Paul, Minnesota. She has performed internationally as both a recitalist and soprano soloist across multiple genres including opera, operetta, oratorio, orchestral, and chamber music. Her musical interests span the gamut from baroque opera to contemporary art song, with particular expertise in classical era repertoire and German Lieder. She previously lived abroad in Vienna before returning to her native Minnesota. Janna offers private voice lessons at her Saint Paul studio to students ranging from beginner to professional level. Her instructional focus includes developing healthy breathing techniques and vocal fundamentals while refining artistic interpretation and musicianship. She encourages students to explore diverse vocal literature across multiple languages and styles—from baroque opera to Broadway—based on individual interests and voice types.
Education & Qualifications
Graduate education from the Eastman School of Music; B.A. in music and German studies from Macalester College. Her performance experience includes work as a recitalist and soprano soloist internationally, with specializations in baroque opera, classical era repertoire, and German Lieder.
