Janet Brown
About
Soprano Janet Brown is Teaching Professor and Voice Area Coordinator at Syracuse University's Setnor School of Music. She is recognized for her warm, clear voice and direct expression. Brown performs across concert and operatic stages, including roles with Syracuse Opera Company, American Repertory Theatre, Boston Early Music Festival, and Pepsico Summerfare. Her oratorio performances span major orchestras including Syracuse Symphony, West Virginia Symphony, and Handel & Haydn Society. She regularly appears at Skaneateles Chamber Music Festival and participates in new music concerts. Brown has premiered compositions by Gunther Schuller, Andrew Imbrie, Philip Glass, and others. Her recordings include selections from Hugo Wolf's Spanisches Liederbuch and Fond Affection: Music of Ernst Bacon.
