About
Dr. Jane Schoonmaker Rodgers is an Associate Professor Emerita of Voice at Bowling Green State University's College of Musical Arts and a highly respected voice pedagogue and performer. She holds degrees in voice from Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (BM), and both a Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Michigan School of Music. As a member of the BGSU voice faculty, she teaches applied voice to undergraduate and graduate students and teaches graduate seminars in vocal pedagogy and performance. Dr. Rodgers is the co-founder and General Director of the Ann Arbor Festival of Song, a prestigious festival dedicated to art song and vocal chamber music that has been serving the Ann Arbor community since 1994. She has extensive teaching experience, having held previous faculty appointments at Grand Valley State University, University of Toledo, Adrian College, Albion College, Spring Arbor College, and served as a graduate assistant at the University of Michigan. Her work emphasizes the development of comprehensive vocal pedagogy and the promotion of fine art song performance. Dr. Rodgers is recognized for her expertise in voice science and vocal pedagogy, and participated in the establishment of the Master of Music Specialization in Voice Science and Vocal Pedagogy at BGSU. She is an accomplished performer with credits in opera, art song, jazz, folk, and musical theatre, and continues to perform and teach, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to her students and the vocal music community.
