About
Jamie Flora is a Lecturer II in Voice and Opera at the University of New Mexico, where he teaches classical and contemporary voice, opera, and directs the Opera Theatre performance ensemble alongside his wife, Dr. Olga Perez Flora. American tenor James Flora is hailed for his resonant, impeccably-trained voice and fearlessness in singing, performing repertoire ranging from Verdi and Wagner to contemporary works. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance, Summa cum laude, from The Ohio State University and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Florida State University. In 2010, James was a Richard Tucker finalist, one of the most prestigious awards in American opera. He has performed leading operatic roles including Alfredo in La Traviata, Tamino in The Magic Flute, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Rodolfo in La Bohème, and Don José in Carmen with opera companies across the United States including Washington Concert Opera, Arizona Opera, and Glimmerglass Opera. His Pittsburgh Opera debut as Fenton in Falstaff was met with critical acclaim. Before joining UNM, Jamie served on the voice faculties of Arizona State University, University of Nevada Reno, Central Michigan University, Otterbein University, and Point Park University.
