Jami Rhodes-Galloway
About
Dr. Jami Rhodes-Galloway is a mezzo-soprano and Professor of Voice at East Carolina University School of Music, serving as Interim Chair of the Vocal Studies area. With a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from Louisiana State University, Rhodes-Galloway brings extensive expertise in voice science and vocal pedagogy in the choral rehearsal setting. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes technique and individual student development. She conducts the ECU Concert Choir and coordinates vocal pedagogy coursework. Her students regularly win competitions including National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) regional and national awards, the Classical Singer Vocal Competition, and the Orpheus National Vocal Competition. As a performer, she has appeared in major opera productions and concert performances. In 2018, she received the Board of Governors Award for Excellence in Teaching, East Carolina University’s highest teaching honor. She is an active member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, National Association for Music Education, and American Choral Directors Association.
