Jadrian Tarver
About
Dr. Jadrian Tarver is the Assistant Professor and Director of Voice at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Performance from Michigan State University, a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Georgia State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Bethune-Cookman University. Dr. Tarver is an active roster as a conductor, clinician, composer, and recitalist. He has performed with major opera companies including Atlanta Opera, Peach State Opera, Capitol City Opera Company, Opera Grand Rapids, and Michigan State University Opera. Notable operatic roles include Germont in La Traviata and the title role in Gianni Schicchi. Beyond performance, Dr. Tarver is deeply committed to diversity in music. He founded Indigo Press LLP, an independent publishing company highlighting works by underrepresented composers of color, and curated the Sankofa Recital Series promoting African diasporic composers. While a doctoral candidate, he served as project manager for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging at Michigan State Universitys Wharton Center for the Performing Arts. At Gonzaga, Dr. Tarver teaches Applied Voice, Vocal Pedagogy, Vocal Arts Ensemble, and a first-year seminar on music and social issues. He also leads the United Black Voices of Spokane, continuing his mission to foster community through music and advocacy.
