Dr. Jacquelyn Abbott is a soprano and Faculty Associate in Voice at Utah State University. She earned her Doctor of Music in Voice Performance with Distinction in 2020 from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, where she minored in both Music History and Theater. She holds a Master's degree in Vocal Performance from Cleveland Institute of Music and an undergraduate degree in Communication Disorders from BYU. Dr. Abbott began her vocal training in Kaysville, Utah, and studied voice privately for 17 years. She has taught voice lessons and music classes at multiple institutions including Utah State University, the International School of Music in Maryland, and various private studios. Her recent work includes directing opera productions at the Miami Music Festival, including works by Purcell, Menotti, Handel, and Corigliano. She teaches classical voice, musical theater, and sacred music, and also provides dramatic coaching and audition preparation. She recently performed as Berta in Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia and is engaged to sing Frasquita in Bizet's Carmen with Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre.
