Ingela Onstad
About
Ingela Onstad is a soprano native of Santa Fe who has enjoyed a varied international career in opera, concert work, and contemporary music. Her operatic highlights include performances at Dresden Staatsoperette, Oldenburgisches Staatstheater, Landestheater Schleswig-Holstein, and Santa Fe Opera in roles including Musetta in La Boheme, Pamina and Papagena in Die Zauberflöte, Nannetta in Falstaff, Mabel in Pirates of Penzance, and Violetta in La Traviata. As an oratorio soloist, she has performed Carmina Burana, Charpentiers Te Deum, Haydns The Creation, and numerous Bach Cantatas. Ingela completed her undergraduate degree at McGill University studying with Professor William Neill, and earned a Master of Music degree at the University of New Mexico studying with Professor Leslie Umphrey. With over ten years of teaching experience and twenty years of professional stage experience, she now offers voice lessons in Albuquerque, focusing on helping students develop healthy vocal technique, musical interpretation, and performance confidence. In addition to her work as a singer and voice teacher, Ingela holds a Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health and is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LPCC) who frequently presents on topics concerning mental health and performers through her coaching practice, Courageous Artistry.
