Holly Alcorn

About

Holly Alcorn is a mezzo-soprano and Senior Instructor of Voice at Western Washington University. She began teaching voice privately in 2009 as an undergraduate at WWU and pursued her Master of Music in Vocal Performance from The University of Texas at Austin, where she focused heavily on vocal pedagogy. She took a broad approach to her vocal education, studying a wide array of styles including classical, chamber music, and popular music techniques, working with Disney music producer Gary Powell. Holly strives to find common ground between the techniques used in classical and popular singing styles, providing healthy technique guidelines for students whose passion for singing bridges both the classical and popular worlds. She teaches at multiple private music schools and remains active performing with Bellingham community organizations. She specializes in classical, musical theatre, pop, country, rock, and singer-songwriter development, offering both private lessons and band group lessons.
