Helen Allen
About
Helen Allen is a lyric coloratura soprano and native of Yellow Springs, Ohio, and Assistant Teaching Professor of Voice at The Ohio State University School of Music. A Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions finalist who received the Encouragement Award, Dr. Allen has performed leading roles in operas including Die Zauberflöte and La Cenerentola. She has worked with renowned artists including Shirlee Emmons, Warren Jones, and Lawrence Brownlee. Her students have earned prestigious positions at Santa Fe Opera and the Metropolitan Opera. Dr. Allen previously taught for 21 years at Otterbein University and specializes in voice instruction, vocal pedagogy, singing health, and French, German, and Italian lyric diction. She also directs the Grace Notes Choral Ensemble at The Learning Tree Homeschool Cooperative in Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
