Heather Houston is a voice teacher with over 20 years of vocal coaching experience and more than 10,000 private voice lessons taught. She has extensive training in Western classical vocal technique, Eastern classical vocal traditions (ragas, mantras, vocal meditation), jazz vocal techniques, a cappella harmony, and yoga, which she incorporates into voice instruction. Heather offers instruction across multiple musical styles including musical theater, pop, jazz, soul, gospel, inspirational, bluegrass, and Eastern vocal traditions. Her methodology emphasizes creating a safe learning environment where students discover their voices through guided exploration rather than directive correction. She integrates ear training, breath work, body awareness, and intuitive connection with singing. Based near downtown Santa Cruz County, CA, Heather offers both online (Zoom) and in-person instruction with programs for beginning, intermediate, and advanced singers, as well as vocal meditation and voice therapy sessions.
