About
Harold Meers is an acclaimed American operatic tenor and Founder and Artistic Director of Charleston Opera Theater. Since his professional debut with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis in 1997, he has established himself as one of the outstanding American tenors of his generation, having performed at major venues including the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Los Angeles Opera, and Boston Lyric Opera. Among his signature roles are Rodolfo in La Bohème, Don José in Carmen, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, and Hoffmann in Les Contes d'Hoffmann. He maintains private vocal studios in Charleston and Chicago. Harold is known for teaching singers across multiple genres, with his students enjoying success on Broadway, in Nashville, and in leading opera houses across the United States. He frequently gives master classes at the College of Charleston as a visiting international artist for voice students.
