Gregory Oaten
About
Gregory Oaten is a versatile tenor and accomplished musician from the Lehigh Valley with more than 30 years of professional experience. He has been a member of the Music Faculty at Moravian University since 1991 and was awarded the T. Edgar Shields Prize for excellence in Studio Teaching in 2003. Mr. Oaten holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey, where he studied voice and voice pedagogy. During his time at Westminster, he performed and toured internationally with the world-renowned Westminster Choir for six seasons, including performances at the Spoleto Festival of Two Worlds. His students have appeared in master classes with prestigious vocalists including Angela Brown, Lawrence Brownlee, Denyce Graves, Paul Plishka, Samuel Ramey, and Frederica von Stade, and many perform throughout the United States and Europe. Mr. Oaten has served as a faculty member at Lehigh University and Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania. He performs with the Bach Choir of Bethlehem, Camerata Singers, Concord Chamber Singers, and other Lehigh Valley ensembles. He serves as Tenor Soloist at Bethlehem's historic Central Moravian Church and is Director of Music at Christ Presbyterian Church. He is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and is a co-founder of Lehigh Valley NATS.
