Gordon Hawkins is an internationally recognized dramatic baritone and Professor of Voice at Arizona State University's School of Music, Dance and Theatre. Born November 22, 1958, Hawkins is particularly acclaimed as a Rigoletto specialist, having performed the role over 170 times. His repertoire spans Verdi and Wagner, with notable performances as Alberich in Der Ring des Nibelungen at San Francisco Opera, Los Angeles Opera, and Deutsche Oper Berlin. He has performed at the Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Seattle Opera, Houston Grand Opera, and shared the stage with distinguished artists including Placido Domingo, Mirella Freni, and Luciano Pavarotti. A winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and the Luciano Pavarotti International Vocal Competition, Hawkins was awarded Washington National Opera's Artist of the Year. He joined ASU's faculty in August 2015, where he brings his vast performance experience and deep interpretive skills to training the next generation of opera singers.
