Gary Moulsdale
About
Gary Moulsdale is a voice instructor at Cornell University's Department of Music and a musicology educator. He is a versatile tenor who began his singing career at age 24 after working as an extra with the Canadian Opera Company. Moulsdale returned to college in Toronto to study music and singing, and earned a doctorate in musicology at Cornell University. He has extensive training in vocal pedagogy and somatic voicework, attending the Aspen Music School and Festival (2000), Rasaboxes Intensive Summer Program (2005), Somatic Voicework Levels 1-2 (2017), The Singing Athlete Workshop (2017), Singing Voice Science Pedagogy Workshop (2018), and Z-Health Essentials (2018-2019). As a performer, he has an active performance schedule with lieder recitals, concert appearances, and stage roles. He serves as Music director for the Department of Performing and Media Arts and Stage director for the Department of Music at Cornell, directing theatrical productions including The Nero Project, The Bourgeois Gentleman, As You Like It, and others. Moulsdale believes that singers can begin studying voice at any stage of life.
