Eric Mentzel is a Professor of Voice at the University of Oregon School of Music and Dance, and a specialist in historically-informed performance with an international career as a concert soloist. He came to the UO School of Music from Germany, where he lived for nearly 15 years. He has taught widely in Europe and North America, serving as guest professor at the Schola Cantorum in Basel, the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, and the University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart. In 1998, Mentzel founded Vox Resonat, an ensemble devoted to medieval and Renaissance vocal music. In 2015, he became the Artistic Director of the Seattle Medieval Women's Choir. He has appeared on nearly 60 CD recordings for Sony, Decca, BMG, Harmonia Mundi, and other labels.
