Emily Sinclair
About
Dr. Emily Sinclair is Head of the Voice Area at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where she has taught lessons and vocal repertoire since 2014. She is an active performer and pedagogue whose voice has been hailed as 'sweet and strong' and 'alluring' by the New York Times. Emily holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Colorado, with additional degrees from Northwestern University, Manhattan School of Music, and Yale University. She has received advanced belt technique training with Mary Saunders Barton, Edrie Means Weekly, and Maddie Tarbox, and is Certified in Levels 1 and 2 of Evidence-Based Voice Pedagogy (2024). Emily maintains a private studio and offers masterclasses and choral clinics throughout the Bay Area. She leads Santa Cruz's Fiat Musica ensemble and Temple Beth-El Choir as conductor, and made her Davies Symphony Hall debut in 2023 as soprano soloist. Her students have succeeded at regional competitions and been accepted to programs including Northwestern, Carnegie Mellon, and Manhattan School of Music. She serves as Chair of lecturers' union at UCSC and Auditions Coordinator for Cal-Western Region, National Association of Teachers of Singing.
