Elizabeth Gerbi
About
Dr. Elizabeth Gerbi is a performer, singing teacher, author, and music director/pianist who teaches Musical Theatre in the Department of Music & Theatre at the University at Albany (SUNY Albany). She has served as music director and pianist for over 200 productions, bringing extensive practical experience to her teaching. Dr. Gerbi received her Ed.D.C.T. from Columbia University and M.M.E. from Boston University, focusing her scholarship on the development of more equitable musical theatre curricula for upcoming generations of theatre artists. She also studied within the Voice Pedagogy D.M.A. Program at Shenandoah University, one of the first programs in the country to clinically research healthful contemporary singing practices. Dr. Gerbi holds positions at multiple SUNY institutions, teaching at both SUNY Albany and SUNY Schenectady School of Music where she teaches voice lessons and Acting for Singers. She is the co-author of Bob Marks' 88 Keys to Successful Singing Performances and has written for professional journals. Her expertise spans musical theatre performance, contemporary vocal pedagogy, and acting techniques for singers. Dr. Gerbi is dedicated to developing singers who can perform safely and authentically across multiple styles while building strong technical foundations.
