Elizabeth Benitez is a vocalist born in El Paso, TX who began singing at age 13 in Juarez, Mexico. She subsequently worked as both a singer and bass player across prestigious venues in Ciudad Juarez and El Paso. Benitez studied under several accomplished instructors including Aquiles Valdez and her brother Carlos Benitez (classical guitarists from northern Mexico), Juan Arteta (jazz guitarist and vocal instructor), and Emilio Alejandro Verdugo (guitarist and vocalist). She competed in Festival OTI '89 El Paso, TX, advancing to the finals, and has opened shows for renowned Mexican artists including Manuel Loco Valdes and Eugenio Derbez. Benitez performed at the Festival Internacional de Guitarra de Cd. Juarez alongside Argentinean guitarist Juan Falu and appeared at Festival Internacional Chihuahua and various cultural events. She worked at Julio's Café Corona for 8 years and led the Grupo Amigos band in Ciudad Juarez for special events. She has also performed at Riviera Maya resorts near Cancun and Crown Plaza Hotel in Mexico City. Currently, Benitez provides private singing lessons and vocal coaching in El Paso, performing as a soloist and with bands including Azucar and Essencia. She performs jazz, bolero, bossa nova, salsa, cumbia, Mexican folk, tango, and ballads in Spanish, English, French, and Portuguese.
