Elin Peterson
About
Elin Peterson is a passionate, patient, and persistent vocal instructor with a holistic approach to singing. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Montana and began teaching voice lessons in 2015. She has worked across diverse settings, including preparing students for competitions, auditions, and solo performances. She has also coordinated and directed local and regional musical performances including camps, competition preparations, open mics, and recitals. As a versatile singer, Elin has performed with symphonies, operas, jazz ensembles, musicals, big bands, choirs, and rock bands. She currently performs with the Missoula Symphony Chorale and Ed Norton Big Band. Elin addresses barriers between voice and the mind/body that limit musical expression, recognizing that singing is an incredibly vulnerable act. She works to build confidence, self-esteem, and trust with each student while fostering a safe, supportive environment. Her teaching incorporates yoga, meditation, breath work, SOVT exercises, Alexander Technique, and Kodaly method.
