Eike Gunnarson
About
Ms. Eike Gunnarson is College Track Instructor of Voice and Functional Piano Coordinator at New Mexico State University. She has been teaching voice for over 25 years and specializes in classical, music theater, and gospel styles, with expertise in French, Italian, and German diction. Ms. Gunnarson studied voice in Germany with renowned soprano Brigitta Seidler-Winkler before receiving her bachelors degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Texas. She earned her masters degree from NMSU under Dr. Martha Rowe. She has performed in major operatic productions including Le Nozze di Figaro, Turandot, Samson and Delilah, and Romeo et Juliette. She participated in El Paso Opera Companys outreach program as Hansel in Hansel and Gretel. Ms. Gunnarson has extensive experience with Spanish repertoire, performing zarzuelas and boleros throughout Mexico and the United States, including collaborations with Talento Bilingue de Houston and Opera in the Heights. She was a solo vocalist with the Las Cruces chamber ensemble Border Baroque. She is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda American Music Honor Society.
