Drew Minter
About
Drew Minter is a renowned senior lecturer in music at Vassar College where he has taught since 1999, instructing voice and directing the Vassar Chamber Singers and Opera Workshop. Regarded internationally for over four decades as one of the world's finest countertenors, Drew brings extraordinary performance credentials and expertise to his teaching. He studied at Indiana University and the Vienna Musikhochschule, earning a BS in Music and Languages and a Diploma in Lieder and Oratorio. Drew has performed leading roles with major opera companies including Brussels, Toulouse, Boston, Washington, Santa Fe, Wolf Trap, and others. A recognized specialist in the works of Handel, he has performed frequently at prestigious Handel festivals including Göttingen, Halle, and Karlsruhe. His recording career spans over 40 albums on renowned labels including Harmonia Mundi, Decca/London, Newport Classics, and others. From 2006-2011, Drew was a co-founder and artistic director of Boston Midsummer Opera. He has taught summer workshops at the Amherst Early Music Institute since 1989 and directed their annual opera productions for two decades. Beyond singing, Drew brings expertise in movement, breathwork, and the Feldenkrais Method to his instruction.
