About
Dr. Sarah Kahl is an accomplished pianist, collaborative artist, and music educator serving the Erie, Pennsylvania area through her roles at Mercyhurst University and the Erie Philharmonic. As an Adjunct Instructor of Music and Collaborative Pianist at Mercyhurst University, she teaches aural skills courses and maintains a private piano studio offering Musikgarten classes for young children. Dr. Kahl is the accompanist for college choirs at Penn State Erie Behrend College and serves as the official accompanist for the Erie Philharmonic Chorus, Erie Philharmonic Junior Chorus (EJPC), and Erie Philharmonic Youth Chorale (EPYC). Her extensive background includes teaching piano and multi-level group piano classes at universities in Minnesota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, and Pennsylvania. She is an active performer serving as both a soloist and collaborative pianist, frequently collaborating with music faculty and students throughout the Erie region. Dr. Kahl has studied at the prestigious Bösendorfer Piano Academy in Vienna, Austria, where she studied with renowned pianists Wolfgang Watzinger and Krassimira Jordan. She also serves as the Music Coordinator at Church of the Cross in Fairview, Pennsylvania. Her teaching approach emphasizes foundational musicianship, aural development, and collaborative artistry.
