Dr. Patricia Fleitas
About
Dr. Patricia Fleitas is a Professor of Music and Director of Choral and Vocal Studies at Florida Atlantic University, where she has maintained successful voice and conducting studios at both undergraduate and graduate levels since joining the faculty in 1992. She is an experienced voice teacher, choral/vocal clinician, adjudicator, chorusmaster, and guest conductor with a distinguished career in vocal education and performance. Her students have pursued careers in higher education and won vocal competitions at national and international levels. Dr. Fleitas holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Texas, a Master of Music in Choral Performance/Conducting from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Master of Science in Music Education. She is known for establishing multiple choral ensembles at FAU, including the FAU Chamber Singers, Women's Chorus, University Chorus, and Cantemos (Latin American Choral Ensemble). Her programs emphasize Latin American and Iberian Peninsula choral music. Dr. Fleitas has received significant recognition for her work, including the 2001 Florida Atlantic University Faculty Talon Award and the 2003-2004 Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching.
