Dr. Katrina Cox
About
Dr. Katrina Cox is an Assistant Professor of Choral Music Education at the University of Nebraska Omaha School of Music. She teaches undergraduate and graduate music education courses, directs the Treble and Nebraska Medical University Choirs, supervises practicum students and clinical teachers, and serves as faculty advisor for the UNO student chapter of NAfME (National Association for Music Education). Dr. Cox began her career as the Director of Choral Activities and Drama at Centralia High School in Southern Illinois, where she developed comprehensive choral programs. She holds a PhD in Music and Human Learning from the University of Texas at Austin, an MME in Choral Music Education from Florida State University, and a BME with choral emphasis plus a BA in German Teaching from the University of Northern Iowa. Her research interests center on conductor and teacher expertise, effective use of teacher verbalizations, and how specific teaching strategies impact student performance outcomes. Dr. Cox has presented extensively at regional, state, and national conferences on music education research and teaching methodology. She is deeply committed to developing the next generation of music educators and fostering inclusive, supportive learning environments.
