Dina Cancryn is an Associate Professor of Voice at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) School of Music and a soprano originally from Long Island, New York. She has performed extensively as a soloist and served as an artist in residence at the Banff Centre for the Arts in Canada. Her operatic roles span works by Mozart, Donizetti, and Verdi, and she has been a featured soloist with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra in performances of Mozart's Requiem, Handel's Messiah, and Poulenc's Gloria. Her opera credits include the title role in Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor with Nashville Opera, Madame Goldentrill in Mozart's The Impresario, and Gilda in Verdi's Rigoletto. Cancryn has released a recorded album titled "Remembrance: African American Songs" and is developing an original theatrical production called "Portraits," which examines African American operatic pioneers while maintaining an active teaching and performing schedule. She specializes in African American vocal repertoire and is dedicated to highlighting the contributions of Black classical singers throughout history.
