Dillon Parmer is a Professor of Music at the University of Ottawa, where he teaches voice and brings together his dual expertise as both a performing tenor and musicologist. Audiences welcome his voice that "breathes warmth and lyricism" as he has performed in over 70 operatic, oratorio, and concert works throughout his distinguished career. He pursued formal training in voice performance and musicology at the University of Western Ontario, then continued his studies in music theory and musicology at the prestigious Eastman School of Music. As a tenor soloist, Dillon has appeared as a guest with companies including Opera Lyra Ottawa, I Musici de Montreal, and the Nathanial Dett Chorale, earning acclaim for his versatile oratorio singing with a repertoire spanning over forty major concert roles. His academic work has been published in prestigious journals such as 19th-Century Music and Journal of Musicology, particularly his contributions to Brahms scholarship. At the University of Ottawa, he is passionate about bridging the disconnect between theory and practice, scholarship and performance, bringing his extensive professional experience to help students develop both technical mastery and musical understanding in their vocal studies.
