Desiree Maira is a voice instructor based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, with over a decade of private and collegiate teaching experience at institutions including University of the Arts, Boston Conservatory at Berklee, Rider University, and University of New Mexico. She earned her MM in Opera Performance from Boston Conservatory at Berklee and BM in Vocal Performance from Stetson University, and is currently pursuing an MA in Counseling from Southwestern College and New Earth Institute. Originally from South Florida, Desiree discovered how vocal expression and somatic healing interconnect through her diverse career spanning opera performance with choruses including Palm Beach Opera, fitness instruction, and various other roles. She employs Voice Lesson By Design combined with professional counseling techniques, with her methodology emphasizing the connection between vocal expression and somatic healing tailored to each singer's individual needs. Her certifications include New York Vocal Coaching Teacher Training, Certified Grief Counselor, NACBT Mental Health Technician, Childhood Psychology, and Zumba Fitness. Desiree has served as Voice Faculty at Paper Mill Playhouse and Guest Clinician at Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.
