Denise Stookesberry is an active singer, choral director, and voice teacher in Estes Park, Colorado. She received her Master of Music in Vocal Performance at Washington University in St. Louis where she also taught on the voice faculty. Originally from St. Louis, she was the music department chair at John Burroughs School, and was a section leader and alto soloist with the St. Louis Symphony for many years. Her career on the opera stage included roles with Opera Theater of St. Louis, Pensacola Opera, Opera Unlimited, Ohio Light Opera, Union Avenue Opera, and the MUNY. She was a semi-finalist in the International Opera Singers Competition in New York and was recently awarded the Joan Frey Boytim Award for Independent Teachers through the National Association of Teachers of Singing. Denise has been an active choral director for over 30 years and is currently the musical director of the Estes Park Chorale, leading the group to perform at Carnegie Hall. She offers private voice lessons and coaching customized to students' needs and experience levels, emphasizing a natural and functional singing technique. Students can learn repertoire from different styles including classical, folk, musical theater, pop, and jazz.
