Dr. Denise Bernardini is an Associate Professor of Music specializing in Voice and Opera Workshop at Radford University. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Oklahoma, a Master of Music from Texas Christian University, and a Bachelor of Music Education from East Central University of Oklahoma. With over 20 years of experience teaching voice and opera at the university level, Bernardini is a versatile performer recognized for her brilliant high notes, pure tone, communicative warmth, and musical intelligence. She maintains an active international performance career, having performed with major orchestras including the New York Pops, Toledo Symphony, and Oklahoma City Symphony, with recital engagements throughout London, Tbilisi, Milan, Canada, and Austria. Her operatic roles include Violetta in La Traviata, the title role in Suor Angelica, Gilda in Rigoletto, and First Lady in The Magic Flute. She has served as former faculty director at Virginias Governors School for Fine Arts, and her students regularly perform with Michigan Opera Theater, Toledo Opera, Des Moines Opera, San Francisco Opera, and have won regional Metropolitan Opera auditions. Dr. Bernardini has published two books: A Stylistic Guide of Classical Cabaret and The Mindfulness of Singing (Amazon bestseller), and contributes articles to the Journal of Singing on mental health in vocal instruction. She completed over 50 graduate hours in mental health with mindfulness emphasis and leads support groups addressing performance anxiety for music students.
