Delcina Stevenson
About
Delcina Stevenson is a distinguished soprano and voice teacher with an illustrious career spanning performance, recording, and teaching. Born in Kansas, she graduated from the University of Kansas with a Major in Voice and privately studied with legendary pedagogues Lotte Lehmann at the Music Academy of the West, as well as with Martial Singher and Gwendolyn Koldofsky, receiving world-class training from some of the 20th century's most respected voice teachers. Delcina debuted with the San Francisco Fall Opera Company in 1966 and became an active member for three seasons, establishing her professional opera career. She spent many years as a voice teacher in Germany, developing her pedagogical expertise in the European classical tradition, and has continued to mentor and inspire young singers throughout her career. Her connection to Pacific Opera Victoria and the Victoria music community has made her an important figure in developing the next generation of classical singers on Vancouver Island. Delcina's teaching is informed by her extensive performance experience and her training with legendary pedagogues, and she continues to pass on this rich tradition of classical vocal technique to her students. Her students have gone on to successful international careers, testament to the quality and depth of her teaching.
