David Meyer
About
Dr. David Meyer is an Assistant Professor of Voice and Voice Science at the University of Iowa School of Music and serves as Voice Area Co-Head. He is a baritone and a leading scholar and researcher of the singing voice who works as a performer, teacher, clinician, and voice scientist. His research and teaching focus on the science of voice production and its application to vocal pedagogy. Dr. Meyer holds a Doctor of Music in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from Indiana University, with minors in speech pathology and music history. He also holds a Master of Music from Indiana University and a Bachelor of Music in Applied Voice from the University of Iowa. He has completed advanced study at the Britten Pears School for Advanced Musical Studies in England. His scholarly contributions have been recognized with the prestigious Van L. Lawrence Fellowship in 2010, a national award recognizing contributions to singing pedagogy and voice science application. Dr. Meyer currently holds adjunct research faculty status at the Janette Ogg Voice Research Center at Shenandoah University and serves on the Scientific Advisory Board of the Voice Foundation. His students have won numerous awards and have performed in major opera houses and venues worldwide.
