Daveda Karanas
About
Daveda Karanas is a Greek-American mezzo-soprano and Voice Area Coordinator and Associate Professor of Voice at Texas State University School of Music in San Marcos, where she has taught since 2018. Described as having "capacious power" and "a voice lustrous and exciting," Karanas is a graduate of the prestigious Adler Fellowship Program at San Francisco Opera and has performed internationally at major opera houses and concert halls. She earned her BM in Vocal Performance from Southeastern Louisiana University and her MM in Opera Performance from Arizona State University. Her professional career includes performances with major opera companies and orchestras throughout the United States and Europe. As Voice Area Coordinator at Texas State, she oversees the university's comprehensive voice program and maintains an active performance schedule, recently appearing as soloist with the Musical Arts Society of New Orleans.
