Daniel Teadt
About
Daniel Teadt is an Assistant Teaching Professor of Voice at Carnegie Mellon University's School of Music and an internationally acclaimed baryton-Martin with a career spanning four continents and over two decades. Distinguished as both a vocalist and voice teacher, Teadt brings extensive performance and pedagogical expertise to his teaching at Carnegie Mellon. He is also co-chair of the Voice Division at the university. A graduate of the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, where he studied with renowned accompanist John Wustman and received the Gunzalus Prize for Outstanding Vocalism, Teadt's career includes apprenticeships with prestigious opera companies including San Francisco Opera, Central City Opera, Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, Pittsburgh Opera, Steans Institute at Ravinia Festival, and L'Académie Festival d'Aix-en-Provence. He joined the roster of New York City Opera before embarking on an international stage and teaching career. His professional experience encompasses extensive operatic performances across major U.S. opera companies, concert appearances with orchestras including the San Francisco Opera, Metropolitan Opera, and Los Angeles Philharmonic, and Grammy Award-winning recordings with the London Symphony Orchestra. He has received multiple awards including Sullivan Grant Foundation recognition and recognition from the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. Previously taught at Washington and Jefferson College, Point Park University, and Clarion University, and conducts masterclasses internationally. Teadt operates a private voice studio in Pittsburgh where he teaches musicianship and Bel Canto vocal technique.
