Dan Callaway
About
Dan Callaway is a voice teacher and musical theatre performer based in Greensboro, North Carolina. A native of Mount Airy, NC, he was encouraged to pursue music professionally by his high school voice teacher, Sandy Beam. Dan holds a BFA in Musical Theater from Elon College, North Carolina, and a Master Degree in Vocal Pedagogy from the University of North Carolina Greensboro. He has completed advanced study in vocal technique at the Complete Vocal Institute in Copenhagen, Denmark. His teachers have included accomplished vocal educators Richard Cook, Catherine McNeela, Annette Battam, Marianne Challis, Joan Lader, Gary Kendall, Renee Sousa, and Tony Award-winning composer Steve Lutvak. Dan has received song interpretation coaching from Tony Award winner Betty Buckley. His professional performance career includes roles in Broadway productions, national tours, and regional theatre, featuring performances in The Phantom of the Opera, Sweeney Todd, Pippin, and Jesus Christ Superstar. He is a member of Actors Equity Association and the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). Dan is dedicated to developing healthy vocal technique and fostering artistic growth in his students, believing that great vocal technique emerges from getting out of the way and allowing the singer to emerge uninhibited.
