Cynthia Vaughn
About
Cynthia Vaughn is an accomplished voice educator, author, clinician, and performer based in Norfolk, Virginia, with four decades of professional teaching experience. She is the co-author of The Singing Book (4th edition, 2024), a foundational group voice textbook published by W.W. Norton & Co and Rowman & Littlefield. Her career spans private instruction at multiple studios, university teaching, and professional development. Vaughn previously taught vocal performance at Colorado State University for nine years, where she pioneered the Freshman Voice Studio programโa collaborative learning model for voice majors that remains part of CSU's curriculum. She has also taught at Cedarville University in Ohio, ArtConnects International in Urbino, Italy, and The Arvada Center for the Arts in Colorado. Currently, she maintains a limited private voice studio while consulting with teachers on group voice pedagogy. As a Master Teacher for the National Association of Teachers of Singing, Vaughn leads masterclasses, adjudicates festivals, and presents at major conferences internationally.
