About
Corey McKern serves as Director and Senior Instructor of the Dr. Grier Williams School of Music at the University of West Florida and Artistic Director of Pensacola Opera. An award-winning baritone, McKern has garnered critical acclaim in more than 40 roles on the opera and concert stage since his 2000 stage debut. His performance history includes major venues and companies across the United States and internationally, with notable appearances as soloist with the Phoenix and Seattle symphonies, multiple returns to Carnegie Hall, and performances with regional opera companies including those in Nashville, Pensacola, and Santa Fe. He received recognition from the Sullivan Foundation and won competitions with Opera Birmingham, Shreveport Opera, and Mobile Opera. In 2011, Mississippi State University honored him as Alumnus of the Year for the music department.
