Cloyce Kuhnert
About
Dr. Cloyce Beard Kuhnert is a Professor of Voice and Opera at West Texas A&M University, where she joined the faculty in 1993. A mezzo-soprano, Dr. Kuhnert directs the singing ensemble Sforzando and oversees the opera workshop program. She earned her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in vocal performance at WTAMU, and completed her Doctorate of Musical Arts in vocal performance at the University of North Texas (1999). Dr. Kuhnert has performed as soloist with the Fort Worth Chamber Orchestra and Xalapa Orchestra in Mexico, and appeared in Mozarts Vesperae Solemnis at Lincoln Centers Alice Tully Hall. Her major opera roles include parts in The Barber of Seville, Die Fledermaus, and Madame Butterfly. Dr. Kuhnert has been a cast member and music director for the outdoor musical production TEXAS in Palo Duro Canyon for 24 years, where she also serves as costume designer. She is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, Phi Eta Sigma, Alpha Chi, and Pi Kappa Lambda honor societies, and serves as district director for Mu Phi Epsilons South Central 3 District. Her voice students have won regional NATS auditions and have sung and taught across the United States and Europe. Dr. Kuhnert teaches applied voice lessons, IPA for Singers, and Italian Diction for Singers.
