Clara Rottsolk is an Assistant Professor of the Practice of Music in Voice at Duke University, where she serves as Voice Area Coordinator. A soprano recognized by major publications for her vocal artistry, The New York Times praised her clear, appealing voice and expressive conviction, while The Philadelphia Inquirer highlighted her opulent tone with emotionally communicative phrasing. She performs extensively across the United States, Middle East, Japan, and South America as both a soloist and chamber musician. Clara has appeared as soloist with prestigious orchestras including Baltimore Symphony, American Bach Soloists, Santa Fe Pro Musica, American Classical Orchestra, Richmond Symphony, Bach Collegium San Diego, Virginia Symphony, New Mexico Philharmonic, Pacific Symphony, Atlanta Baroque Orchestra, Trinity Wall Street, and Seattle Baroque Orchestra. She performs with renowned chamber ensembles including Les Délices, TENET, Piffaro the Renaissance Wind Band, Colorado Bach Ensemble, House of Time, and Pegasus Baroque. Festival credits include Carmel Bach, Berkeley Early Music, Montréal Baroque, Spoleto USA, Winter Park Bach, and Boston Early Music Fringe. Clara holds music degrees from Rice University and Westminster Choir College and received an award for musical excellence from the Metropolitan Opera National Council. A native of Seattle, she previously taught voice and chamber music at Swarthmore College before joining Duke University.
