Claire Vangelisti
About
Dr. Claire Vangelisti is Professor of Music and Associate Director of Visual and Performing Arts at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. She holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of Texas at Austin and an undergraduate degree from Central Washington University, which honored her with an Outstanding Alumni Award in 2007. Dr. Vangelisti has performed extensively in operatic, concert, and musical theater repertoire with major opera companies including Austin Opera, Lyric Opera of San Antonio, and Louisiana Opera. Her voice has been described as having qualities that are pure, lovely, vibrant, truthful, and lustrous. She has taught voice at Southwestern University from 1996-2007 and has served as guest faculty instructor at the University of Houston, Texas State University, University of Miami at Coral Gables, and universities in Portugal. She serves as Louisiana District Governor for the National Association of Teachers of Singing and was President of the Louisiana Chapter NATS from 2014-2016. Dr. Vangelisti has received multiple awards including Who is Who Among Americas Teachers (2005-2006), Foundation Award for Excellence in Creative/Artistic Activity at ULM (2012), and the B. Iden Payne Award for acting in musical theater.
