Christy Burns

About

Christy Burns is a passionate music educator with over 10 years of training in voice and piano. She grew up in Lubbock, TX and has been a pianist and singer for as long as she can remember. Burns previously worked in the country music business in Nashville, TN before returning to Lubbock to establish her teaching studio. She maintains membership in MTNA, Texas Music Teacher's Association, and the Lubbock Music Teacher's Association. Her voice teaching is based on the Kodaly teaching method, focusing on technique, tone, rhythm, and sight singing. For piano, she uses a variety of method books including Alfred, Piano Adventures, and Wunderkeys. She emphasizes teaching both foundational skills and creative applications like songwriting and improvisation.

Education & Qualifications

Graduated from Monterey High School in Lubbock, TX; Performing Arts degree from South Plains College; Recording Industry Management degree from Middle Tennessee State University
