Christopher W. Pfund

Christopher W. Pfund is an Associate Professor of Voice and Voice Area Coordinator at the University of Florida School of Music. An accomplished tenor recognized for extensive performances with major North American orchestras including Cleveland, Philadelphia, Houston, and Dallas symphonies, Pfund has distinguished himself through over 150 international performances, particularly noted for his rounded vocal beauty. His repertoire spans Baroque masterworks through contemporary compositions, with special expertise in song cycles and German art song. A recipient of the prestigious Richard F. Gold Career Grant, Pfund has performed with Santa Fe Opera and New York City Opera and is an impassioned performer of contemporary music with expertise in revivals of 20th century works and the creation of new compositions. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from The City University of New York Graduate Center (2019) and degrees from Manhattan School of Music and University of Northern Colorado, with additional study at Banff Centre, Canada. His dissertation focuses on seventeenth-century German song performance practice.
