Dr. Christopher Besch is a bass-baritone and Assistant Professor of Voice at Texas State University School of Music in San Marcos, where he has taught since 2022. He specializes in science-informed vocal pedagogy, bringing a research-based approach to voice instruction. Dr. Besch earned his BM in Vocal Performance from Lawrence University, and both his MM and DMA in Vocal Performance from the prestigious Shepherd School of Music at Rice University. His pedagogical approach integrates current research in vocal science with traditional classical technique, helping students develop healthy, sustainable vocal production. In addition to his teaching responsibilities at Texas State, Dr. Besch maintains an active performance career in opera and concert repertoire, and presents regularly on topics related to vocal pedagogy and vocal health at national and regional conferences.
