About
Cheryl Parrish is a soprano and Senior Lecturer of Voice at Texas State University School of Music in San Marcos, where she has been a beloved faculty member since 2002. Best known for her sensitive and moving portrayals of Mozart and Strauss heroines, Ms. Parrish has performed at prestigious venues including The Mostly Mozart Festival at Alice Tully Hall and Avery Fisher Hall, the Ravinia Festival, Cleveland Orchestra at Carnegie Hall, Houston Grand Opera, The Chautauqua Institute, New York City Opera, San Francisco Opera, The Canadian Opera Company, Zurich Opera, Opera Koln, and Maggio Musicale in Florence, Italy. Recent credits include her Houston Grand Opera debut in Dead Man Walking as Kitty Hart, Despina in Cosi fan tutte, Cunegonde in Bernstein's Candide with Austin Lyric Opera, Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, and the title role in The Ballad of Baby Doe at New Orleans Opera and Austin Lyric Opera. She earned her BM in Vocal Performance from Baylor University and MM in Vocal Performance from Texas State University, and studied at the Hochschule fur Musik und Darstellende Kunst Lied and Oratorio Program in Vienna, Austria.
