About
Carrie Furniss is a versatile vocalist and voice teacher based in Ridgewood, Queens, New York, with teaching experience since 2010. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Jazz Vocal Performance from the University of Miami and a Master's Degree in Jazz Vocal Performance from New England Conservatory. Carrie is certified in all 3 levels of Somatic Voicework™, a body-based approach to contemporary singing. Her teaching experience includes positions at prestigious institutions such as New England Conservatory, The New School, Wellesley High School, Franklin School for the Performing Arts, and Community Music Center of Boston. Currently operating both a brick-and-mortar studio in Ridgewood, Queens and offering online lessons, Carrie works with students aged 10 to adult across all skill levels. Her musical expertise spans jazz, pop, rock, country, experimental, punk, indie, musical theatre, classical, and world music styles. In addition to voice instruction, she teaches Piano for Singers and Composition/Songwriting, and is proficient with synthesizers, Ableton, GarageBand, and Protools, bringing a comprehensive approach to contemporary vocal education.
