About
Carolyn Adams Welch is an accomplished vocal coach and music educator with over 40 years of teaching experience in private voice lessons. She holds a Bachelor's degree and Master's degree in Vocal Performance & Pedagogy from CU Boulder. Welch is the semi-retired Artistic Director of the Lawrence Children's Choir, a position she held for nine years, during which she directed three of the organization's five choirs and led the Tour Choir on multiple national and international tours. She collaborated with renowned organizations including the Kansas City Symphony, Boston Camerata, and Heartland Men's Chorus. An award-winning educator, she received the Kansas Music Educators Association's Outstanding Music Educator Award for the Northeast District in Middle Level Choir in 2014. Carolyn is also the author of several music education publications including 'Sing Better Now' (a singing manual for adult beginners), 'Sing the Concepts' (songs for learning basic music theory), and 'Change One' (a sight-reading curriculum). Now semi-retired, she offers private voice lessons and continues her musical involvement by singing with the Kansas City Symphony Chorus and directing the LCC Crescendo Choir. Her teaching emphasizes proper vocal technique, musical expression, and the joy of singing.
