Carol Wilson is Professor of Voice in the Division of Vocal Studies at the University of North Texas College of Music, where she has taught since 2012. An American operatic soprano with an extensive international career, Wilson made her international opera debut in 1999 at Deutsche Oper am Rhein and has performed principal roles with major opera houses throughout the world including Dresden, Frankfurt, Netherlands, San Francisco, Stockholm, Stuttgart, Taipei, Vancouver, Manitoba, Bonn, Hannover, Nürnberg, and the Metropolitan Opera. Her repertoire includes over 25 principal roles such as the Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier, Eva in Die Meistersinger, and Kaiserin in Die Frau ohne Schatten. Beyond opera, her concert engagements have included performances with the Orchestra of St. Luke's, American Symphony Orchestra, Brooklyn Philharmonic, and Concertgebouw Amsterdam. She is known as an enthusiastic advocate for music of the 20th and 21st centuries, having performed works by Schoenberg, Boulez, Elliott Carter, and Samuel Barber. Wilson holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Yale School of Music, where she received the Music Alumni Association Prize, and an undergraduate degree from Iowa State University.
